About AoT

Age of Tyrants is set in the Draconis Alba galaxy, a futuristic alternative universe that has been in development for over fifteen years.

There are 4 factions to choose from, each with very different play styles to suit your approach.

Forces are simple, and easy-to-build. Models – are all mounted on a standard 50mm square base. 4 bases form a platoon, and 4 platoons form a core company which is the starting force for your game. Once you get the hang of the system you can customise, adding up to 4 more platoons of your choice to the company.

As we rollout the expansions, we’ll introduce specialist platoons such as recon, urban warfare, airborne elements and tank hunters. Simply swap out old platoons for new ones to fit the strategic objectives of the scenario.

Point values for each base are either 1, 2 or 3, so you can easily do the maths in your head. We also provide online army builders that allow you add call signs to each platoon, then print out a roster for easy reference.

A Question of Scale

This is not simply a 28mm skirmish game in a smaller scale with more figures, this is a fundamentally different kind of game, played at a much higher strategic level. Tactics, luck and individual casualties matter in 28mm skirmishes, but this is a true strategy game, where positioning, clever application of force and maintaining command are what matter. You are no longer a hero or captain fighting with your squad or platoon, you are a commander of vast forces with a whole array of arms and armour at your disposal.

By scaling down to 6mm you find that you have a whole new range of possibilities and it also means you can have a lot more gear on your average sized table!

Painting

There is a popular misconception that painting 6mm is much harder than 28mm, this is simply not true, it’s just a question of technique. We will shorlty have some painting tutorials for you to peruse online that will enable you to create great effects in little time.
